I made original rendition of this piece for Dance.Draw. I believe it's strongest point is smooth and fluidic visuals without performing any large simulations. It's basically a Voronoi diagram, with some extra mathematical gravy to make things look more alive. I added the networked social aspect recently (Summer 2010) because I just learned how to write servers in Twisted
